Commissions

Over their 19 years together, the Cypress String Quartet has commissioned or premiered over 35 new works. The Cypress Quartet discovers composers through a blind listening process, resulting in an extraordinarily diverse group of composers.  From young composers at the beginning of their careers to established composers at the pinnacle of their creative output, CSQ-commissioned composers run the gamut of age, gender, and musical style. The Cypress Quartet develops lifelong artistic bonds with many of these composers leading to multiple commissions, recordings and the championing of their music for years.
